A police bodycam video from January 2020 recorded a suspect in Texas admitting to his involvement in a cash-for-ballots scheme. The suspect named Deborah Peoples, who is running as county judge for Tarrant County under the Democratic Party, as the mastermind behind the vote fraud.
The footage taken on Jan. 3, 2020 came from an officer of the Fort Worth Police Department (FWPD). It first appeared in a September 2020 article on the Gateway Pundit following a public record request. The FWPD also verified the video’s authenticity to the Epoch Times.
According to the nighttime video, the police officer identified the bicycle-riding suspect as Charles Jackson, who was stopped for riding in the wrong direction on a public street. However, this was not the first time Jackson had a brush with law enforcement at Fort Worth. During a 2016 encounter with the same officer, Jackson – who was homeless at the time – had trouble explaining why he had $1,000 in cash.
Jackson stated that it had something to do with the elections. The officer then warned him that meddling with elections could have serious repercussions and let him go. But instead of heeding the officer’s warning, the suspect ended up being arrested and charged with giving false information on a voting application.
He pleaded guilty in April 2019 in exchange for a minor sentence of 10 days jail time, with credit for 10 days served. The judge handling the case also enforced a gag on all parties in the case.
Almost a year later, Jackson admitted to the police officer that flagged him for riding in the wrong direction that Peoples supposedly paid him $200 in cash for every fraudulently cast absentee ballot he could bring in months prior to the 2016 presidential election. He even bragged that Peoples, the chairwoman of the Tarrant County Democratic Party at the time, personally gave him the money. According to Jackson, he was given the personal voting registration information of elderly Texans. He was then told to visit them and deceive them into signing absentee ballot documents. Jackson then falsified these as county election forms to verify that their personal data was accurate, subsequently casting their votes for Democratic candidates on the ballots.
Moreover, the suspect said in the 2020 footage that an individual he knew as a close associate of Peoples bailed him out of jail.
“They’re trying to get me for 10 years. I didn’t know it was that bad. It turned out they’d been stealing votes,” Jackson told the policeman in the video. “I can talk now. I’m done with it. Deborah [Peoples] gave me cash,” said Jackson.
The suspect also divulged that he was paid between $900 and $1,200 weekly for his tasks. Aside from the regular payments he received, he was also rewarded with a motorcycle and extra bonuses.
A press release from the Tarrant County Sheriff’s Office (TCSO) said it will not investigate voter fraud claims as shown in the bodycam footage. According to the statement, Sheriff Bill Waybourn believes it would be “inappropriate” for his office to investigate with Peoples at the center of the claims and him endorsing candidates on the ballot.
Waybourn has endorsed several Republican candidates on the ballot, including county judge candidate Tim O’Hare.
Meanwhile, a TSCO representative said they had brought the video to the attention of Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton. They added that the office had received complaints about the bodycam footage, with others raising possible concerns about potential vote fraud.
